The night may be long and void of song But joy comes in the morning Darkness descends as one day ends But joy comes in the morning
2.
Deep in the night, with no sign of light, We were joined by God With his presence came forgiveness And hope for the morning Like the first day’s dawning Give light to the darkness Guide us to the path of peace In your tender mercy O Light, break upon us O Light, break upon us Day after day we stumble and stray But we are not alone With his presence, there’s forgiveness That’s new every morning As it was in the beginning So it is now and ever shall be. World without end
3.
Though the hills be wrapped in silence, Though the fields be numb with cold, Earth, from winter's tomb departing, Shall the life of God behold. Though the land be gray and barren, Though the night be dark and long, Nature, from her bed of slumber, Shall burst forth in vibrant song. Yes, the Savior, long-expected, Pure and bright as morning's ray, Shall arise the Sun of Justice, Lord of Light and Prince of Day Alleluia, Alleluia Alleluia, Amen
4.
O Wisdom, from the mouth of God O Wisdom, reaching far and wide O Wisdom, sweetly ordering all things Come and teach us to be wise O Adonai, leader of Israel O Adonai, you who appeared to Moses O Adonai, giver of the law on Sinai Come redeem us by your hand Refrain: Tomorrow, come Tomorrow, come Beautiful Savior Tomorrow, come O Root of Jesse, a sign for all the people O Root of Jesse, even kings stand silent O Root of Jesse, to you all the nations will pray Come deliver, make us one O Key of David, you close and none can open O Key of David, you open, none can shut O Key of David, open wide the doors of our hearts Come and lead us into light O Morning Star, Sun of Righteousness O Morning Star, Bright Eternal Light O Morning Star, setting free those trapped in darkness Come send off the clouds of night O King of Nations, all peoples' true desire O King of Nations, the whole earth's cornerstone O King of Nations, you who made us with your own hands Come and save your very own O Emmanuel, whose law and life are love O Emmanuel, the sign of our salvation O Emmanuel, plant in every heart your goodness Come be born in us we pray
5.
Mary, in a dream the angel came and said to me to not be afraid and to take you as my wife for the one whom you will bear will save people everywhere and the Spirit was the one who gave him life. Still I must confess there is a bit of bitterness back there creeping in the corners of my brain I did not ask for this and now he asks me to dismiss all my dreams then barely stops by to explain I remember Moses and his staff still the story makes me laugh At his insistence that he could not be the one And excuse after excuse could do nothing to reduce the Lord's insistence that through him it could all be done So as your belly grows I will trust the good Lord knows every question, every weakness, every fear I will not run and hide for where he calls he will provide and he will lead us on as he led us safely here Come, oh come Emmanuel God above, God beneath, God losing his baby teeth the prince of peace will learn to walk in our own home Though I know I'll be afraid, my expectations rearranged, even in silence we are never all alone No valleys rise to meet him, no hills bow down to greet him as Emmanuel cries on the dusty hay How is it we who usher in the lamb that who takes away our sin? The king of kings is born in Bethlehem today
6.
Nobody knows when he'll return to judge the living and the dead Though many men have tried to clarify the times that lie ahead To some the end is ever near, to others this world will always be I don't know how the clouds will roll, but I will not wait idly Refrain: Why not live in the light and be ready for Jesus to come? Why not live in the light of God's kingdom There are those who seek out shadows where their flaws are not revealed But Jesus will turn on the lights and not a thing will be concealed Though voices loud and earnest call, through the din I'm listening For the gentle guidance of God's ever-patient whispering In this wondrous mystery I know I won't get all things right But when I see my maker's face I want to welcome in the light
7.
Wait when the seed is planted, Wait for the rain to fall; Wait for the restless green sprout, Wait while the plant grows tall. Wait for the coming Savior, Wait through the heart’s slow race; Wait for the kingdom’s dawning, Wait till we see his face! Hope when the sun is setting, Hope through the dark of night; Hope though the moon is waning, Hope as we long for light. Hope for the coming Savior, Hope through the heart’s slow race; Hope for the kingdom’s dawning, Hope till we see his face! Trust in the new spring’s promise, Trust through the summer’s heat; Trust in the dying autumn, Trust through the winter sleet. Trust in the coming Savior, Trust in the heart’s slow race: Trust in the kingdom’s dawning, Trust till we see His face!

The shepherds heard the angels’ song Calling them to come along They followed them with open hearts To the stable where love began Then the shepherds saw a sight Tiny Jesus in all his might They looked upon the newborn King The savior where love began Love begins Love began Our Savior came He will come again Wise men then came to see Carrying gifts for royalty Laid before the prince of peace In the kingdom where love began Jesus then grew up to be The savior who would set us free In a world of fear and pain He is the place where love began
9.
Joseph and Mary rode to Bethlehem for the census While they were there, Jesus was born and put in a manger A group of shepherds were watching their sheep when an angel appeared "Do not be afraid, I bring good news and joy for everyone" A child has been born for us A baby boy born for us The light's finally dawned Sing glory to God The shepherds hurried off to see this new baby that they were told of Then they told everyone, their friends, even strangers, the wonderful news Later on the wise men traveled from far off to come and see Jesus They gave him gifts and said that he was a miracle And we will call him: Wonderful Counselor Mighty God, Eternal Father Prince of Peace, Prince of Peace
